In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Ariel Henry on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the Provisional Electoral Council submits a new calendar to the Executive.
According to this new calendar, the general elections (presidential, legislative) as well as the referendum will take place on November 7, 2021. The second round will take place on January 23, 2022, during which the municipal and local elections will be included .
The provisional Electoral council , (CEP in French ) states: “in accordance with Article 74 of the Electoral Decree on July 5, 2021” invites the Prime Minister to call for the citizens to get ready to take part in the election within thirty days before the election takes place.
It should be remembered that the general elections were previously supposed to be held on September 26, 2021.
It’s worth noting that the constitutional referendum is postponed for the third time. Initially slated to happen on April 25, 2021, it was postponed until June 27, then until September 26 before being scheduled, this time, for November 7, 2021.
